It was one of those evenings where I felt a bit lazy after dinner and the couch was calling me to waste some time with the TV. But that little voice in my head that said “Get up, go out.” I figured it was at least worth it to go for an evening drive since the weather was excellent and unseasonably cool. Ok, I’ll go out. I made a coffee and jumped in the truck and headed out of town to see what I could find. The previous night I was out and got some nice photographs with the moon in the composition. I couldn’t see the moon tonight and I didn’t quite know where or when it would rise. The sun was setting quickly and this barn and farm off in the distance caught my eye with a backdrop of clouds all lit up by the sun. As I stopped to photograph the scene the sun went below the horizon and the light was fading fast. Just then a sliver of light peaked over the top of the clouds, “Ah there you are moon!” The ambient light was at the right exposure to capture both the barn and the moon. But it didn’t last long. The sun dropped more and the moon rose higher and the exposure moment was lost. If only the couch and TV back home where here to see it.
